Here we have answered some commonly asked questions, which we hope you will find useful. If your question isn't shown then please do contact us - our contact details are listed here.
Is your commercial system thermally broken?
Yes. Our commercial system uses the latest polyamide thermal break, which provides enhanced thermal performance. The system complies with Doc. L for thermal transmittance, with U-values of 1.9 W/M²K.
What is the maximum height for your commercial system?
Our commercial screening or low rise curtain walling is a self supporting system and as a result can be manufactured to a maximum height of 3.5 metres. We do not supply non-structural high rise curtain walling / glass screening that is designed to be hung off of large multi-story buildings and simply connected to the floors or building structure.
What is the maximum height for your commercial doors?
Our doors can be manufactured to heights of up to 2.5 metres, without the need for a top light.
What different types of commercial doors do you supply?
We manufacture and supply single or double commercial swing doors for manual or automatic opening. Although we can prep for and provide certain hardware items, such as electric strikes and automatic closer's, we do not supply the gearing or electric systems for automatic or electronic door systems. These will need to be sourced from a third party.
What is the size of your midrail?
The midrail used on our commercial system is just 200mm wide.
How long are your lead times?
We keep a large amount of stock and can provide an exceptionally fast turn around on all of our products, especially white products. For customers that need their jobs urgently we offer a fast track service, for an additional cost. Lead times are usually around 3-4 weeks, but please consult our sales department for current lead times and for availability or prices for express / fast track.
Can you supply single or triple glazing for your system?
No, we do not supply single or triple glazing for our commercial system. We can supply 24mm or 28mm double glazed sealed units or we can supply our products unglazed so that you can source your own glass.
Can I really have ANY colour?
Yes, almost. The RAL range includes hundreds of colours to choose from. Unlike most commercial systems you can actually choose to have a different colour on the outside to the inside. For example, you may wish to have a grey or silver outside and a decor neutral white colour on the inside. Colours can be provided to individual taste or to suit corporate or brand requirements.
Can I use a coupling bar to connect your commercial system to the existing?
Unfortunately this is not possible. Our commercial system is a clip in system and therefore can not be used in conjunction with coupling bars, existing or provided. Our commercial screening system has a full range of profiles, which all clip together, including a range of corner posts and mullions.
Do you do supply and fit?
We do not provide an installation service, however if you like our products and are looking for a company that can supply and fit them. Then we can provide you with the details of recommended installers from your area from our extensive database of customers.

Why aluminium?
Aluminium is the perfect material for manufacturing strong, resilient and aesthetically pleasing commercial systems that are almost maintenance free and built to last. Aluminium is by far the most common material used for producing commercial systems. The natural strength of aluminium allows for much slimmer profiles, resulting in more glass area and less visible frame. It is a relatively light weight metal that is strong but is also durable and highly resistant to rust and corrosion. The life span of aluminium products is generally measured in decades rather than years.
Another benefit of aluminium is the ability for your products to be coloured any of over 200 different colours. You can even have them different colours inside and out. Our aluminium products are painted in a tough and resilient polyester powdercoat paint finish similar to that used on your car. It will not flake or fade over time. Aluminium is very sustainable, endlessly recyclable and very environmentally friendly.
Who are Duration Group?
ABD is part of the Duration Group of companies of which Duration Windows is the founding company. We are a sister company of Duration Windows or the aluminium roof and commercial division. Duration Windows manufacture aluminium windows and doors and do not manufacture aluminium roofs or commercial. We do not manufacture aluminium windows or doors and we use Duration Windows to manufacture our Bi-folding doors. Any projects that required windows, doors, roof and / or commercial would result in the involvement of both Duration Windows and ourselves.
